Default Nightfall Changed Guild Wars for me.

I'm a laid back pver. And Nightfall has changed my whole perspective on guild wars. I think I rushed factions, and it was my favourite, but now i appreciate how much detail has gone into all 3 campaigns. Nightfall was brilliant. Loved it. Loved the end. Loved the graphics, story great! And again the characters and skils were fantastic. Loooved it. Lol! Finished it a few days ago, and am loving the side quests. Whats everyone elses impressions?

I think Nightfall for me is sorta like how I feel about Prophecies, cept better. I took my sin through it when it came out and enjoyed it. I made a Dervish on it so I could experience the INCREDIBLY LONG TRAINING ISLAND. Almost finished but made an ele and am taking her through right now.

I've made 4 characters in Factions and it's obviously my favorite.

Prophecies...I haven't even beaten it and I don't want to go through it again.

Nightfall and Prophecies (moreso Proph) are like "one time deals" for me. I love the graphics, the details, storyline, they're great! I just can't seem to stand going through them again o_o Unlike Factions. Maybe Factions was shorter, maybe I just enjoy it more for some unknown reason, but Factions still tops the cake for me.

I'm taking my monk that I made for solo play through it since I play my Dervish and Ele with my boyfriend but I'm definitely not going as fast as I did on my sin (she's beaten it). I'm soooo going to have fun healing the heroes in the Realm of Torment (sarcasm) >_>

Prophecies was okay the first time i played through it, Factions was great, Havent done whole Nightfall yet, Have come to Vabbi, i'm soon in Real of Torment, for now, Nightfall have been the best, since i'm playing Nightfall with my Prophecies Warrior in level 20 i didnt mind doing the other missions/quests in the first island with Kamadan, so i went right to the mainland and started getting longer. Best campaign i'd say.

Yeh the training island was a little boring for me. I love my dervish, and will probably take her through both factions and prophecies lol.

Factions is for me what Prophecies is for most of you guys... boring and annoying. What got me was all the locked portals and the tiny training island that jumped you right into high lv foes.

I love Nightfall. I bought it shortly after it came out but was having computer issues so didn't get a chance to play it until sometime in november. its brilliant. I'm all about PvE. I made a Dervish and played her until I got off the training island. Thats when the quest to Tyria and Cantha became available so naturally I wanted to go back to prophecies with her. I love Prophecies a lot. Most of my 9 characters are from there. I took my Dervish all the way from old Ascalon, clearing maps and missions, ascended her and now am in the shiver peaks. I took a break from that and returned her to Elona and last night got to Vabbi and did the mission at the party. I found that mission fun and very unique.

Now I just need some sapphire and rubies... hehe...

Nightfall for me was a bit of a breath of fresh air. I didn't like the sound of Factions before it came out and its arrival did nothing to change that impression. It was a slog getting my characters through after the first time and my last character finished it days before NF came out, primarily because Nightfall was coming out!

I think Prophecies is always going to look a bit blah to some people if it wasn't your first GW campaign. Being the oldest, and the original, there is a fair amount of unpolished parts to it; that has since been tweaked, refined and made better in later campaigns.

I thought Nightfall was much better than Factions. Things like Wurms and Tihark Orchard gave the game a bit of life, rather than just go to point A, bash everything along the way, get to point B, bash, etc type missions.

This might be taking us vaguely off topic, but IMHO the greatest effect that NF had on GW (which is what I thought the subject heading was referring to) is by and away the introduction of heroes. The game is so much less of a (pseudo) MMORPG now. Farming Gargoyles for Wintersday it was refreshing to see people looking for other human beings to do missions or quests with. Nightfall has become a single player or at best dual player game, save for the lucky few with very active guilds. People stand around in towns with 4 or 8 above their head. It's much easier to play the game, there's much less stress to not having to cope with tear-your-hair-out PUGs, *but*, and this is a big but, I'm missing finding the odd nice PUG that you meet and play the game with, and meeting his friends, and his friends' friends (masculine form for convenience ^^). Works both ways, but as a game, I can't help feeling that NF has had the most profound effect on GW in that manner.

I think its definately been well received from a PvE point of view, I dont know any hardcore PvPers so I couldnt tell you their impressions. But yes, I agree with your idea about the new independance, and I certainly know that I have used my heroes unless I was really really stuck. But still, I have a whole new respect for the game designers and the people involved in it.

I know what you mean. With my new laptop unlike my former 2 year old machine I can finally have guild wars at full detail which is beautiful.

I also feel I went through the game too fast. I took my Canthan ele over to Elona when the game came out and did all the Kournan side-quests to get to Sunspear General...then I just seemed to sprint my way to the end. I recently took my ele back to Vabbi to do a load of Vabbi quests (mainly for Trade contacts, should I decide to buy Vabbian Armor) and thought to myself "Why didn't I do these at the time? These are great!

I really should stop and take more notice of all the little side quests that feed you little bits of extra information as I go through the next campaign.

The Vabbian area was my favourite place out of the whole game (for quests and exploring). And the scenery back on the island was really nice. Especially those white sand beaches and where you can really look out into the clear-as horizon, it was awesome.

For me nightfall broke the ice of boredom that Factions brought with its so many babysitting quests and missions which sucked.

Nightfall's graphics are awesome and I like the way music comes in when you are fighting etc etc.

After doing the 3 campaigns I still like tyria more out of the three but nightfall is still by far a fantastic new campaign except the new elite area Domain of Anguish which is way to much for the average player.

I think I disagree with about everyone in this thread.

I can't stand Nightfall. It's not that it's too easy, just... The lack of players. As much as I hate using PuGs, I miss them. It gets mighty boring using heros and henchman after a while. And most of the first part of Nightfall (after the introduction island) is just desert =/ I know it gets kind of better, but it's still mostly desert.

Prophecies is and always will be my favourite. The landscapes and diversity of all the areas draws me in. Many towns and outposts are empty these days, which is sad, but using Heros/Henchman in these areas doesn't bother me, because I'm too busy watching my surroundings. I mentioned disliking the desert in Nightfall, but in Tyria it was... different... I had things to look at, something to look forward to seeing. But by far the best time in Tyria is Pre-Searing. I often just go back and clear all the maps, and hang out in town, just because I enjoy being there.

I'm probably looking into this waaaaay too much, but hey, a man's allowed to dream right? ^_^

Lets not forget the fact that Nightfall ruined PvP. Build Wars FTW.

Hm...

*snaps fingers* maybe the reason why i love Factions so much is..cos I like to kill things and the faster I do it the more fun I have XD Don't ask WHY i think i feel like that. I like looking at the scenery and such, and I definitely did when I played through it the first couple of times.

Tyria is definitely beautiful...once you get out of nuked land xD It was my first campaign and it definitely locked me into GW, so it's not like I hate it..but after playing Factions I just thought it so slooow.

Nightfall has more quests than Factions, at least it seems like to me. Especially the ones that chain together and pop one right after the other. They seem longer.

I'm more of a PvE player so NF definitely gave a lot of PvE, though Factions seemed like a mix of both, even in the environment..again, don't ask me WHY i think that o_o

I'm pretty sure that Anet realized that releasing new chapters with the same content slide that prophecies had wouldn't work becuase players who were lvl 20 coming over from previous campaigns would be over powered for most of the content.
I prefer new campaigns lvling up to 20 faster and having 80% of the game being lvl 20 content. I still play my previous campaign characters and like that there is more for me to do in newer campaigns than if they did the same lvl crawl from prophecies.
So in the end, the lvl crawl in prophecies was okay, because it was the first game, but the newer games should be made of mostly lvl 20 content to please the majority of the players who already have characters they want to bring there instead of making new characters.
I think Factions was a test to see how small a part pre lvl 20 zones could be made. And I think Nightfall hit the mark very close allowing lvl 20s from other campaigns quite a bit of content to explore.

all I do is PvP [pve'd yesterday for the first time since I rushed through nightfall the days after it came out] and I can say that nightfall was definetly the best pve between all 3 campaigns.. I couldn't stand playing through factions, I wish I could cut out half of the storyline, LOL..

Nightfall is pretty much what brought me back to using my GW account. I hadn't even bothered with Factions because we couldn't get into GW with Prophecies (I think I just found post-searing ascalon to be depressing), but when Nightfall came out it was just so damned gorgeous I got hooked long enough for the rest of the game to get its claws into me.
